We will eventually have a separate page on this website for each project ie:
Gardening; Pottery; Woodcraft; Cookery and so on, but do bear with us as we work
The gardeners have been very busy, as always! They have provided The Full Moon, Southover, Wells with some wonderful hanging baskets and window boxes recently! They will begin to flourish in the next month or so and we will post some photos when they are flowering well.
We are considering the possibility of offering this service publicly, so if you would like to register your interest then do give us a call and ask for Lee-Anne, or leave a message either here, on Facebook or Twitter and we will happily discuss your needs for next spring/summer!
Today there was a wonderful aroma around the building as the cookery group created up a scrummy bacon, avocado & pine nut salad with mixed salad leaves, it looked delicious! They also prepared a beautifully colourful fruit salad using mango; pomegranate seeds; kiwi and pepino melon to name a few of the delicious fruits I saw being diced and sliced!
I was intrigued by the 'Pentecost Cakes' that were being baked and decorated with lemon buttercream and marshmallows (that were coloured to represent flames)! WOW what a creative bunch you are! Of course none of this could be done without the help of our wonderful volunteer Jane :-) Thank you so much Jane :-)
In the Pottery room we have been exploring some 'stained glass' effect painting on acetate and creating some wonderful paintings and pictures of Sunflowers (our Mental Health Awareness Week theme). Our kiln has been in need of repair and we are replacing an element, so there has been a halt on our production of hand-crafted pottery Herb Labels, models of animals and Sunflower themed items! It is a little frustrating but it has been a good opportunity to explore some different ideas!
Our collage has been mounted and displayed in the Kitchen area (photo to follow) and a new one has been created to be displayed in Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre.
In the workshop, our woodcrafts-folk have been working on some stunning pieces of furniture, be it mirrors, tables, benches or chairs! We are very fortunate to have some beautiful Oak to work with. I will upload some photos taken last week. Some of the woodcraft was on display and for sale at the 'Fun Days' weekend at the Full Moon, Southover, Wells last weekend...update to follow...
There has been so much more than this taking place at Heads Up this past week, but we don't want to overload you!
Thank you for visiting this page, please come back and feel free to leave any comments in the space provided...
Take care all and have a super weekend!
