This year has been a busy one for the Gardeners in the Heads Up Healing Garden. In February preparations began for building a pop-up garden at the Royal Bath and West Show; designs were produced and sponsors sought. The garden was constructed at the event in June and successfully won the People’s Choice Award.
Over the summer the team raised income from the sale of plants and vegetables helping the sustainability of the project. Gardeners also undertook community based gardening supporting volunteers at local alms houses gardens and the Bishops Palace in Wells.
Over the coming months the team plans to plant a small forest garden and also support the creation of a sensory garden for Heads Up clients living with dementia. A Big Lottery Award s for All grant enables this project to happen.
